Abigail Leinsdorf Garber is an attorney at Spark Justice Law LLC. Prior to joining Laura in 2021, Abigail was an Assistant Public Defender in Atlanta, Georgia for four years. In that role, she represented indigent people charged with felonies and misdemeanors in DeKalb County. Abigail’s advocacy resulted in numerous dismissals, favorable plea offers, and multiple not guilty verdicts. During her time as a public defender, Abigail was trained by Gideon’s Promise, a program aimed at teaching best practices to public defenders managing a high caseload with limited resources. Abigail brings her empathetic, client-centered approach and experience connecting with clients who have experienced trauma to Spark Justice Law.
In 2016, Abigail served as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Todd E. Edelman on the District of Columbia Superior Court while he presided over a felony trial docket. Prior to her clerkship, Abigail was a fellow at the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta in 2015. Through her work with the Capital Litigation Unit, she contributed to the post-conviction claim of a client held on Georgia’s Death Row and investigated Alabama’s capital sentencing scheme that allowed judicial override of juries’ sentencing decisions (overturned by the Alabama legislature in 2017).
Abigail grew up in Crested Butte, Colorado. She left home to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology and Spanish in 2010. She earned her J.D. from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law in Chicago in 2015. As a law student, Abigail spent three semesters working in Northwestern’s Bluhm Legal Clinic, where she assisted in the representation of young people charged with crimes in Chicago’s juvenile and adult court system. Abigail received Northwestern’s Legal Profession Award for her clinical work in 2015. In addition, she was awarded the Illinois State Bar Law Student Division Public Service Award in 2015 and the Kirkland and Ellis Scholar Award in 2014.
Abigail is a member of the Georgia Bar and is currently practicing in Colorado pending admission on motion under CRCP 205.6.
